Artist Statement
I paint naturescapes that celebrate the hidden, unnoticed, and secret places in the world. My work is inspired by organic, biomorphic shapes and lines, which I use to create fantastical, almost dreamlike spaces that invite viewers to look closer—to find beauty where they might not have thought to look. My subjects often draw from the Maine woods, seaside paths, tide pools, and the brambles and brush that form the quiet undercurrents of nature’s story.
As a child, I longed to be seen and valued, but instead, I was bullied and dismissed. To protect myself, I became intensely quiet and insecure, hiding the parts of me that were kind, silly, creative, and deeply sensitive. That experience gave me a profound empathy for the overlooked and underestimated—both in people and in the natural world.
In my art, I feel a kinship with the wildness, color, and energy of hidden spaces. I amplify their voice, giving form to their sacredness and vitality. It’s a way for me to reclaim those lonely years and transform them into something powerful and beautiful—a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the quiet magic of the unseen.
